We just got back from a whirlwind 23-hour trip to Salt Lake City to see Modest Mouse. JP, Michele, Robyn and I were hanging around one night in January when a few beers encouraged us to pull the trigger on tickets to see Brand New and Modest Mouse playing at the Great Saltair on the shore of the Great Salt Lake. Fast forward to yesterday and we were scrambling to finalize dog accommodations, time off and a place to stay but we pulled it off. Tuesday afternoon we found ourselves watching the sunset on a quintessential summer evening as two great bands put on a lively show.

The tagline of our website is “always say yes” and serves as encouragement to get out there, get after it and quit worrying about the details. There were times leading up to the show that I found myself thinking, “man i’m tired, i’m kinda worried about Chossy… this trip might break me…” but we went anyway. We’ve been charging through summer with conviction, dead set to make the most of every weekend. When the opportunity for new adventure arises we want to jump on it. No excuses, no looking back. Rarely do we regret it, or at least the number of times we come away with awesome memories so outnumbers the tough patches that they’re easy to forget. I’ve been listening to Modest Mouse for 15 years, but who knows how much longer they will be at it. It felt great to check one off the bucket list, adding to the great pile of memories we have here in Idaho. Now if they only would have played “Cowboy Dan“… Maybe i’ll have to go to another show.
