I am a sucker for this time of year. I get giddy about pumpkins, sweet scents, dying leaves and rustic dishes. Later, goblins and ghosts, and sticky treats come to mind, and when those first flakes fall, I plan to deck the halls with wintry touches around our place. It’s never too early, really.

one of our favorite fall dishes: rice, a blend of vegetables with a dash of nutmeg!

Though autumn has only arrived here in Colorado, I’ve been a bit distracted. I haven’t been as attentive to nature and her subtle changes, like I have in years past. Truth be told, I feel a bit guilty about it; not too guilty though. There’s a good reason for my distraction and I am so tickled to share it with each of you.

I am so happy to announce that I was offered and have officially accepted a full-time position with the Hailey Public Library as their new Adult Services Coordinator/Public Information Specialist. Seriously folks! I think this could be a dream job in our dream location. I am really excited!

Robyn took all these pictures. She was just so damn excited.

I cannot wait! First day with the Hailey Public Library is set for Friday, October 16!

In a nutshell, I get to plan and present community education and outreach programs, special events, exhibits and other presentations to adults living in the Wood River Valley. This creative and fun position will help build partnerships within the community, promote the library and offer a variety of programs and services to our little community. Just imagine classes and/or presentations on knitting, the home brew process, fly fishing, canning, car maintenance, starting a small business, computer classes, nature hikes, cheese making and baking presentations, coffee roasting demos, adult book clubs and more! The options are limitless! I know I will have a blast and my co-workers seem really neat, too.

How cool would it be to have a fly fishing demo with one of the local folks? Or maybe a series: Fly Fishing 101!

A cool book with lots recipes. Our class followed one for Raw Whole Goat Milk Ricotta.

we could even host wild flower identification classes!

As many of you know, the last year or so has been a true test for me. My work has been difficult, incredibly challenging and often stressful. I dreaded going in to work each day and I truly lived for the weekends. In hopes of improving my work situation, I applied for several open positions in the Golden area, interviewed for over half of them, and time after time, came in second or didn’t even get an interview. This kind of outcome can easily wear on one’s self-confidence and motivation levels. I know it has mine and I’ve been working diligently to rebuild both. Having a kind, patient and respectful partner has also helped with this process. Ethan’s unwavering support, unconditional love, kindness and encouragement have kept me afloat. I am so thankful for him.

I am also overwhelmed by your sweet words and encouragement. I am so appreciative and thankful for each of you, and we definitely can’t wait to share the next chapter of our lives with you again in Idaho.

thank you, thank you.

Now, with only three days left in Colorado, I get to embrace my favorite time of year with my favorite guy. Crisp mornings, festive treats and warm sweaters, campfire stories, warm beverages, friends and more. No more distractions.

I am really looking forward to it!
