When your academic conference rolls (quite literally) seamlessly from a talk on “Directional Mechanical Properties of Radiational Recrystallization Snow Layers from Experimental Testing” to setting the all-time beer record for sales in a single night at the Bear Tooth Theatre Pub in Anchorage you know you are in a good field of research..

Hoots and Sarah chillin at the Glacier Brew House!

The Bear’s Tooth packed to the gills with mountain folk from all over the world.

I had a beer with a cool lady from Argentina and then walked home with a guy living at 70 degrees north as a highway forecaster on the northern tip of Norway. Cool talks today and a field trip day tomorrow when we will take the train from Anchorage to Moose Pass and back. Cheers!

  1. “Directional Mechanical Properties of Radiational Recrystallization Snow Layers from Experimental Testing” = “Observing freeze thaw cycles on an incline”. Sorry but you cant fool an Earth Scientist. We ARE THE EARTH and everything in, around, or on it.
